Pam Maras is the first woman to hold the office of President of the International Union of Psychological Science since it was established in 1889. She is Director of Research and Enterprise in the Faculty of Education and Health at the University of Greenwich, London. Professor Maras’ intellectual footprint stretches across the world through research collaborations and funding agreements with countries in Australasia, China, Europe, the Nordic Countries, North and Latin America and South-east Asia. In 2007 she was President of the British Psychological Society. In a leading role in IUPsyS Standing Committee for Capacity Building between 2008-2016, Prof Maras sought to bring the benefits of psychological science to the world through initiatives spanning Eastern Europe, the ASEAN region, the Caribbean, Latin America and Africa. Within and across these parts of the globe, Professor Maras has invested her considerable scientific and institutional leadership experience in driving the Union’s capacitation vision.
